Clare Owen
Additional Information
Born
in Colwyn Bay North Wales, Clare's first job was with the Colwyn Bay
Repertory Company as an Acting ASM. The fire was lit. Not contented with
back-stage life, Clare knew that on stage was where it was at. RADA
beckoned and was accepted.
Clare started working in television when all
transmissions were live - very frightening! She also made several
feature films which can still be seen from time to time, in the wee
small hours on ITV, before landing the role of Louise Borrelli
in Crossroads.
After making a success, Clare decided on a career
change: Motherhood, where she again became a success and raised four
children. During this time Clare obtained a degree in Theatre Studies
and went off to teach at Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. The
children grew up and Clare returned to where she belonged.
Favourite roles include: Eleanor of Aquitaine in Lion in Winter which opened at the Waterside Theatre, Stratford-on-Avon, then toured to Florida; Mrs Beckoff in Torch Song Trilogy and Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest.
